skin peels

Refresh Yourself...

What should I expect from this treatment?

Skin peels dissolve dead skin cells on the surface to reveal the fresher and healthier skin underneath. As there are a number of different types of peel available, the nurse practitioner will discuss which option is best for each patient at consultation. Generally, the peels we offer can be split into two categories: light and medium.

Light or superficial peels are relatively gentle and are usually made of natural ingredients such as sugar or fruits. They work by gently exfoliating the skin, smoothing the surface. They also stimulate collagen growth, which reduces wrinkles and gives the skin a fresher, more youthful appearance.

Medium peels are used for more severe skin complaints and are particularly recommended for patients with pigmentation problems.

what are chemical skin peels?

Chemical skin peels work by dissolving the connection which holds dead cells together on the surface of the skin. This removes the dead layer of cells, revealing the smoother, healthier skin beneath. We offer light, gentle and superficial peels, as well as medium peels, which penetrate the skin more deeply. A skin assessment will be required in order to assess each patient’s individual skin condition and to recommend the appropriate skin peel. This will be done during the initial consultation with a medical nurse practitioner.

Imperfections that can be successfully treated by chemical skin peels include: acne, acne scars, freckling, pigmentation problems, lines and wrinkles, age spots and dull complexions.
