PDO Thread Lifting

Lift yourself...

what is pdo thread lifting?

Using biodegradable and biocompatible Polydioxanone (PDO) threads these advanced procedures are used to strengthen lax skin, help with jaw line definition, neck rejuvenation, lowered brows and more by creating a lifting effect in the tissues and encouraging new collagen formation. This longer lasting treatment may also be used on the body where there is laxity of the skin such as under arms. abdomen and knees.

PDO threads have been used in surgical procedures since the 1980s. They’re made from polydioxanone that breaks down in your body after about 6 months.

The presence of these sutures in your skin triggers cells in your body called fibroblasts to produce more collagen and lead to a more youthful lifted looking skin with improved contours.

There are differing types of PDO threads used in the clinic;

  • PDO mono threads. Smooth sutures that help rejuvenate and tighten lax skin by stimulating collagen production.
  • PDO cog threads. These threads have barbs that latch into your skin like small fishhooks, to provide support and lift parts of your face such as the jaw, neck, mid face and brows
  • PDO screw threads. Made up of one or two intertwined threads, these are used to help restore volume to sunken parts of your skin such nasolabial folds and mid cheek areas

What should I expect from this treatment?

The procedure is carried out in strict aseptic conditions and should only be slightly uncomfortable. A local anaesthetic is used but some discomfort may still be felt.

There may be some swelling. bruising, puckering and tenderness for a few days. After a PDO Cog lift plasters are to remain in place for 48hrs.

Results are seen immediately after treatment but will improve over the following weeks and months.
